About the author

Born in the late fifties in Vallejo, California, as the youngest of four siblings, my life unfolded like a 

captivating epic, rich with global adventures and vibrant cultural tapestries. My mother, a gifted cosmetologist, and my father, who enlisted during the Korean War, shaped our extraordinary journey. With a distinguished 30-year military career, my father happily dragged us around the globe, serving his country. Ask my mother, though, and you’ll hear a different story of resilience and strength. She was the true hero, a genuine military wife, as were all the wives, sisters, and mothers who kept the home fires burning while their loved ones served. We were proud US Government Brats, and growing up in that world was a rite of passage.

         Our family odyssey took us from the charming streets of Loan, France, where history whispered through cobblestones until political tides shifted under President Charles De Gaulle, to the lush landscapes of England, where the White Cliffs of Dover offered spectacular views. Weekends in London were spent brass rubbing; 

oh, what fun that was... Brass Rubbings, I think NOT! Especially as a young boy. Please give me the vibrant cultures of Denmark and Germany, painted unique strokes on the canvas of my childhood, leaving indelible 

marks that fueled my passion for storytelling. Each European country, rich in history, added depth to my experiences.

    Our travels then took us back across the pond to the untamed wilds of Alaska, where the northern lights danced in the night sky, to the tropical allure of Hawaii, where the ocean sang its eternal song, and across the vast expanse of the lower 48 states. Each place was a chapter in a grand adventure, weaving a mosaic of memories that inspired my writing and enriched my soul.

         After my father’s retirement, we settled in Houston, Texas, where I thrived academically, graduating with 

top honors from Alexander Smith Academy. The Academic Excellence Award ignited an insatiable thirst for knowledge, leading me to pursue an Engineering degree. My first professional endeavor began at Texas Instruments, where I delved into the world of technical writing. You've likely encountered my literary craftsmanship if you've navigated a technical manual. I transformed complex information into accessible narratives, blending precision with creativity.

      This journey from a globetrotting childhood to a career in technical writing laid the foundation for my true passion, creative storytelling. Each experience, place, and achievement has been a thread in the rich tapestry of my life, urging me to share these stories with the world. I invite you to dive into my world, where every new adventure is a story waiting to be told. 

          Writing under the pen name Ayhma Awther, I draw deeply from a vibrant heritage rooted in the heart  of Texas. "Ayhma" evokes the spirit and resilience intrinsic to the Lone Star State, a place where stories stretch as vast as its landscapes. Meanwhile, "Awther" pays homage to the timeless art of storytelling, a tradition cherished and passed down through generations.
